Malta is considered the EU’s leading ship owning nation, the 7th largest in the world followed by Greece whose registrations declined in 2012. Malta pushed its way forward with an ever growing number of registered tonnage reaching 51.8 million tons at by the end of 2013. Greece says it’s co-operation with Malta is key to the development of Maritime tourism, implying that this sector would create a surplus of employment which will help the younger generation at both a national and European level and generate revenue.
